Slate Blue Paint Inspiration
My friend Kristin from a A Simply Klassic Home has been working on her kid's rooms and has not only inspired me to get started on JD's room but has given me some great decorating advice. Since the new bed we purchased for JD has a birch finish I've decided to paint his room a darker color and find a few more matching birch furniture pieces. Choosing a color has been really hard but after coming across the room design below I knew exactly the color to choose, Slate Blue; now I just have to narrow it down to a specific slate blue!

Pink and Gray Baby Shower
On Sunday I hosted a baby shower luncheon for my very dear friend and JD's Nina, Patty! Patty is due in a few weeks and we are all very excited to meet baby Sofia. I chose pink and gray as the colors for the shower and once I found the perfect invitation I built everything else around it! Here is a little peek at the party decor.

Arlington Petra Toddler Bed
For a few weeks now I've been looking for a toddler bed for JD, hoping that getting rid of his crib would not only inspire me to start working on his big boy room, but would help him sleep in his own room on a regular basis! We wanted a modern bed that was low to the ground, sturdy, safe and would match with his robot themed decor. I came across the Arlington Petra Toddler Bed and got really excited but after seeing the price tag, a whopping $300 I was pretty bummed out.
Well, yesterday I started browsing on Craigslist for toddler beds and came across the listing "Designer Toddler Bed $150" I don't know what made me click on the link but can you believe it was actually the Petra toddler bed! I called the seller right away and asked if it was still available (it was) and if he would take $100 for it and he would, best of all the family lived about 5 minutes away from us. We brought the bed home cleaned it up and before we could even get it in the room, JD brought his whole bedding set out to the living room and laid in his new bed!Last night I laid down with JD (the bed is very sturdy and supports over 300lb), watched cartoons and he actually fell asleep in his very own big boy bed for the very first time!

Pitchers of Peonies
I purchased these lovely galvanized tin pitchers from Michael's a couple weeks ago for a baby shower luncheon I'm hosting tomorrow. After obsessing over peonies all week, I thought it would only be fitting to add them to the arrangements I was making; so I headed to the Flower Mart in Los Angeles early this morning to find the perfect shade of baby pink peonies, aren't they just beautiful!

Mozzarella & Bruschetta Crostini
One of my favorite comfort foods is bruschetta, I know that may seem weird but I love it, it makes me happy. I try to find new and interesting ways to eat it; instead of just eating it with a spoon straight out of the bowl, yes I have been known to do that. So here is one yummy way to prepare it, which pairs perfectly with a pasta dinner and a glass (or two) of wine!
Mozzarella & Bruschetta Crostini
Ingredients:
- 1/2 loaf par-baked bread
- 8 oz. fresh mozzarella sliced
- 16 oz. assorted heirloom cherry tomatoes, quartered
- Extra virgin olive oil
- 1-2 clove garlic, peeled and minced
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 3 leaves chopped fresh basil
- Sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Toss tomatoes, minced garlic, basil, 3 tablespoons olive oil, balsamic vinegar, 1 teaspoon sea salt and a pinch of pepper in a bowl, refrigerate until ready to serve.
Preheat oven to 350F. Slice bread loaf into 1 inch slices, brush each side with olive oil and place on a baking sheet. Bake bread slices for about 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned; bread should be toasted on the outside but soft on the inside.
Once bread cools, add a slice of fresh mozzarella and top with bruschetta. Enjoy!

Pinterest {New Addiction}: Peonies
I love Pinterest, I have to admit I'm actually addicted; I even find myself missing days of Twitter updates and answering Facebook comments hours later all because of my new addiction! This week I'm loving Peonies and have been pinning them like crazy, they are so pretty, dainty and just plain girly! Here is one of my favorite Peony pins, to see more visit my Oh So Pretty Board on Pinterest.

Roadmaster Trike
On Sunday after a very filling Father's Day dinner, we took a walk around the block and on the curb in front of our neighbors house we saw this little red tricycle, JD's eyes immediately lit up and he yelled "bicycle"! The trike was in pretty good shape (it's missing one pedal and a hubcap), so I wasn't sure if they were throwing it out, or if it was left behind by a forgetful child. I knocked on the neighbors door to ask if they were getting rid of it and luckily for us they were! We lugged the little trike home and JD loves it, I'm hoping we can fix it this weekend and start showing JD how to ride it!

Father's Day
JD is such a lucky little guy; he not only has an amazing daddy but two amazing grandpas! I really love the fact that JD is growing up with such wonderful men in his life, they each share such a special bond with him, it really is incredible! I thank God everyday, especially on Father's Day for bringing these wonderful, loving and amazing men into my life!

DIY LEGO Table
A couple of weeks ago when I took JD to his first dentist appointment we ran into a small little problem, JD didn't want to leave the office waiting room! He was absolutely enthralled with their LEGO table and threw a fit when it was time to go home. Well that afternoon I decided to Google LEGO tables and was so disappointed to see they were any where from $80-$300! A few days later (after JD kept mentioning "LEGO, Dentista") I Googgled how to make a LEGO table and you'll never guess what popped up, IKEA Hackers LACK LEGO Table and I was immediately inspired to make JD his very own LEGO table. Here is how I did it.
Materials:
- IKEA LACK Side Table $9.99 (my mom actually had one laying around the house)
- LEGO Duplo Green Building Plate (15" X 15") $16.99
Things we had around the house:
- Earthquake Putty
- Two Wall Hooks
- Liquid Nails Adhesive
- Two Tin Buckets
I attached the LEGO base plate to the table with Earthquake Putty
then attached 2 hooks to the bottom of the table with liquid nails adhesive
and once the liquid nails adhesive dried (1 hour to dry, 8 hours to cure) I placed one bucket on each hook and filled them with Duplo LEGOS
He loves it!
