Gregory Maguire is a genius!
A few years ago I came across the novel Wicked by Gregory Maguire and I was completely captivated by it. When Wicked The Broadway Musical came to the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, I had the opportunity of experiencing this marvelous musical twice (thanks hubby). For my birthday in 2008 the hubby bought me a signed copy of Son of a Witch (volume 2 in the Wicked years) and once again Gregory Maguire drew me in to the Land of Oz. Well, just as I was on the last chapter of the novel, my little monkey JD was born and my reading time went out the window and Son of a Witch began to collect dust. About a week ago my friend/co-worker Tami was reading (on her break of course) A Lion Among Men (volume 3 in the Wicked years) and it motivated me to dust off my copy Son of a Witch; So, I finally finished the novel and it was just as enchanting as Wicked and now I can’t wait to read A Lion Among Men. I would recommend both of these novels to anyone looking for an amazing journey of the imagination. Gregory Maguire is a genius!

I totally agree! My sister and I also got to see the musical and we LOVED it! I have both Wicked and Son of a Witch, hopefully I will actually get to read them, maybe when Nate starts school! LOL ...I didn't know about A Lion Among Men, let me know how it is! Happy reading!
Their both really great books, but Son of a Witch was definitely a bit more Rated R than Wicked. I hope to start A Lion Among Men soon, but I’m afraid it will take me another year to finish it too!
